    Three days of lone parenting, outnumbered parent – child ratio school runs, toddler tantrums, taxi runs to countless clubs. These kids have a better social life than me!

    Tonight my garden is looking particularly dazzling in the evening sunlight. The east facing garden catches glimpses of the setting sun through the gaps between the houses and even the poisonous foxgloves glow in it’s warm light. Finally flowers are appearing – long overdue – a splash of vibrant colour injects some much needed energy into our home environment on a night where I feel a little exhausted and searching for answers.     A 1 minute pause in our day to stare out the french doors at this beautiful marvel of nature. Grubby hands and snotty noses marked the glass as we watched through the falling rain, the arc of promise brighten up the grey sky. It got an ‘oo’ and an ‘arr’ from us all. Continue reading

    Sunshine has been missing in my life these past few months. Winter has dragged and we have been feeling woeful and gloomy, energy-less and being full of dreams and ambition seems too much like hard work. As soon as the sun comes out all that blue fades away and suddenly we loose 10 years, gain fresh enthusiasm for DIY and problems don’t seem to loom so large in our life. I wrote this yesterday evening but today the Sun doesn’t seem to want to come out to play! Good old English weather! Continue reading
