So every Friday I am going to give you a 5 minute worship idea to do as part of your quiet time, family worship or at some point during your day. Maybe take 5 while eating your lunch in the car, or while the baby has a nap. Wherever, whenever if we put time aside Jesus joins us! Today I invite you to step outside, look up and be still…
I don’t know about you but I have had an exhausting week and a busy weekend ahead. A jam packed half-term full of family fun and games but with hardly any pauses or down time. Lent is a season that is meant to focus our minds on the simple things. A time to strip back all that attempts to clutter our lives and invade our space, yet so far space is something I have lacked. So for five minutes today I am intent on finding some space and simply being STILL. To stop, listen, wait and rest. I have discovered a beautiful picture that whispers to my spirit and invites me into a place of worship. You could Stand under tonight’s canopy of stars , a place of ultimate serenity and abandonment to the expanse above. Go out and look up. Maybe imagine you are looking down. Be still, listen to the nights air, feel the cold wind on your face and open your heart to Him.
I look up at the heavens, dark and enormous,
Your handmade sky-jewelry;
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my tiny, insignificant self and wonder,
Why do you bother with me?
Why take a second look my way?
Yet the mystery of heaven is that we are all your favourite – the apple of your eye.
